Four Years Without Lost-Time Injuries – Celebrated with Commitment to Safety and Bløtkake

Bløtkake might seem like a small gesture, but in Norway, it’s how we celebrate milestones — big or small. Today, we gathered to enjoy a slice (or two) as we marked four years without a lost-time injury. While the cake added sweetness to the day, the real story lies in the work, dedication, and culture that made this achievement possible.

A perfectly decorated Bløtkake – the classic Norwegian treat for celebrating milestones, topped with marzipan and just the right amount of sweetness.

The room, mostly filled with men, hummed with energy. Conversations bounced between projects and the finer points of bløtkake consumption. “It’s always a bit too much, isn’t it?” someone mused, even as they reached for a second slice. This workplace chatter is what makes milestones like this even sweeter; it’s a reminder of the camaraderie that fuels our team.

In an industry where welding, lifting, and fabricating heavy structures are part of daily life, the risks are real. Achieving four years without a lost-time injury is a reflection of the high standards we’ve set and the team’s strong dedication to safety.

We are leaders within comparable industries and among the best in Europe in terms of lost-time injury performance. It’s a testament to the dedication and focus of every single employee at Agility, as well as our strong safety culture.

Our Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) approach is a part of who we are. Every task is designed to minimise risks, from comprehensive safety training and pre-task planning to ensuring that every voice is heard. Employees are empowered to take ownership of safety, whether it’s reporting potential hazards, following strict procedures, or looking out for their colleagues. In other words: safety is never left to chance!

“We all play a part in this,” one employee noted during the celebration. “This goes beyond following procedures as, we all are part of a workplace where everyone feels a sense of responsibility for one another.”

This shared mindset is supported by our zero-tolerance policy for breaches of critical safety rules and a relentless focus on improvement. Regular audits, feedback loops, and open communication ensure that safety isn’t static, but evolves with every project, every challenge, and every lesson learned.

The bløtkake served during the celebration was a simple way to pause and reflect, but the message shared over coffee and cake was clear: this milestone is just the beginning. As our Managing Director Fredrik Johannesen remarked, “We’re so proud of this achievement. It’s a reminder of what we can accomplish together and a motivation to aim for a five years streak.”

As we savoured the last bites of cake, one thing was clear: this is just the beginning. Our eyes are already set on the next goal—five years without a lost-time injury. Reaching it will take the same focus and teamwork that got us here, but if there’s one thing we’ve proven, it’s that we’re up to the challenge.

Here’s to safety, teamwork, and, yes, Bløtkake.
